It is not widely known that Birštonas mineral water resort was privately owned prior to the Lithuanian independence in 1918. It is interesting to note that the earliest records of Birštonas are from the 14th century- that is almost 500 years before the resort was officially established. The story of this Lithuanian resort’s life during the interwar period is told by Kurhauzas, The Yellow Buvette, Tulpė Sanatorium, Tourism Information Centre building and other objects on the Birštonas route.
