One of the most important buildings in the interwar Kaunas was the Central Post Office. Quarter of a million litas were spent on the interior of the building which was adorned with paintings of contemporary artists. It is considered to be one of the most important examples of the architecture of interwar period in Lithuania. One of the other points of interest on the route is V. Putvinskio street. Embassies of the USA, Hungary, Sweden, Argentina, Czechoslovakia and France were located there. Ministry of Foreign Affairs was also nearby so one can imagine how the atmosphere there was filled with state secrets. Any connoisseur of modernist architecture would be delighted to stroll down this alley of diplomacy.
